The Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department serves the communities of
The force began with 19 officers. Now, 7 years later, it employs 30 officers within specialized divisions. These Divisions include: Patrol, Criminal Investigation, Traffic and Truck Enforcement, Crime Prevention, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), K-9, and members assigned to a Special County Emergency Response Team. The Department covers an area of more than 52 square miles.
The Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department focuses on a proactive, community-based enforcement strategy. The department is always searching for additional technology, current patrol and enforcement strategies, and ways for the citizens to become more active in problem solving with our community issues.
The Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department is governed by a Police Commission, which includes two elected officials from each of the four municipalities that are covered by the department. The intent of these progressive government leaders is to provide the citizens of each jurisdiction with a police department responsive to the safety programs that assist the citizens, and progressive in crime prevention and traffic safety programs that assist the citizens to maintain a safer, healthier and more wholesome environment to live and, raise their families, and enjoy a good quality of life.
